Kohacon 2009 next week

I’m busy trying to tidy everything up, and to forget there is a small possibility my wife will give birth while I’m away, before I head off to Kohacon on Tuesday.

Today Kahurangi and I went out to upper hutt to Nan and Koro’s house to bake hot cross buns with Donna and Manaia. Kahu and Manaia rolled the buns and helped to put the crosses on the top, they turned out suprisingly edible.

Tomorrow is Dad’s 65th birthday party at Le Marche Francais which should be fun, then I have to go into work to grab all the things I forgot. Like my cellphone charger, headphones etc, yes I am a goober. Then I have to finish off my presentation, get an adapter for the video out on my netbook, and copy it to a usb stick just in case.

Laurel is writing me a shopping list, and I have a baseball game and numerous lunches and dinners to go to, so I’ll be pretty busy, but I’m sure it will be fun.

Koha 3 Packaging

Ok, the 2nd crack of my debian package is up in my repo now
Add
deb http://apt.workbuffer.org/ hardy all
To your /etc/apt/sources.list
And then
sudo apt-get update sudo apt-get install libkoha-perl
And if you are willing you can checkout my package branch, and build your own package, for your architecture.

git clone git://gitorious.org/koha/mainline.git koha
OR
git clone http://git.gitorious.org/koha/mainline.git

Then
git -r branch
Will show you the remote branches,
git checkout origin/package

Gets you the package branch, then you run
fakeroot dpkg-buildpackage -b -tc -us -uc

If you want to make any changes, and build a new package with a higher patch number, run
dch -i
Then commit the debian/changelog file and rebuild your package.

Any patches gratefully accepted, once I have it fully working with debconf and the preinst, postinst, postrm scripts all going I will submit patches to patches@koha.org.

Oh, and Marc from Biblibre informed me I forgot to tell people how they can get my public key. You can get it from biglumber.com
Or simply by running
gpg --keyserver subkeys.pgp.net --recv-key 557F7779

I have removed the packages as people were trying to use them for purposes other than just testing.

Well after a bunch of drama with flights, which meant sitting in airports for more than 15 hours (for a 3 hour flight), I made it back home. The installation and training went well, and the weather was fantastic. Met tons of lovely people too, so apart from airline drama’s it was a most successful trip.

I’ve been uploading photos to the gallery, Kahurangi’s birthday party and other miscellaneous photos of him. No photos from Fiji unfortunately as I forgot my camera.

I’m off to Fiji on Sunday, to do a Koha install and training. It’s gonna be hot and very busy, but hopefully I get a moment or two to relax as well. It will be a Koha3 no zebra installation on Mandriva, so it should all go smoothly.

Well in 6 hours I will be. Tomorrow morning Laurel and Kahurangi fly out towards Pittsburgh. It’s going to be a long series of flights, thats the trouble with booking a flight using airpoints, they route you the most retarded routes. It’s even more retarded coming back, but they should have a lot fun while they are there and that’s the main thing.

So it will be just the pets and I for 3 week which the cat will be happy about as now Kahurangi is crawling his main obsession is trying to grab her. I’d imagine a few nights on the couch watching the rugby will be had, as well as more takeaways than is healthy being consumed.

Air NZ are crazy, they make me take a 7am flight .. so I can arrive at LAX at 10am (west coast time). For a flight that doesn’t leave until 9.30pm …. what the hell???

Here is my mission for today

Find good Coffee
Buy some Aveeno products for Manaia
Don’t get lost
Explore the area around Market Street – tons of things to look at there
Get to bed at reasonable time .. have to be at the airport by 5am at the latest tomorrow.

So far, Ive found good coffee, in this great little Italian cafe called Hausbrandt, on Walnut Street. I also found a CVS Pharmacy and got some stuff for Manaia.
On to the rest of the list.
