Surreal morning

So I got up at 5am today and sneaked around the house showering and getting dressed without waking Kahurangi or Laurel then walked down the hill to catch the 5.45am bus. Now the bus stop is right next door to the Island bay pie shop, in which the days pies were being baked. Consequently by the time the bus arrived I was starving, so when I got off at Newtown to change buses I went into the local Chinese bakery and fried chicken shop (don’t ask, it’s Newtown) to get a donut and a coffee.

While I was sitting at the bus stop I met the man who invented computers. He sat down beside me and was chatting and asked what I did. When I said I programmed computers he said. “I think I invented them, I was thinking one day, if we can have typewriters we can have computers, and now look they are everywhere”. He then bummed a dollar off me and went to buy a coffee.

Newtown, you gotta love it.

Home Alone

Well in 6 hours I will be.  Tomorrow morning Laurel and Kahurangi fly out towards Pittsburgh. It’s going to be a long series of flights, thats the trouble with booking a flight using airpoints, they route you the most retarded routes.  It’s even more retarded coming back, but they should have a lot fun while they are there and that’s the main thing.

So it will be just the pets and I for 3 week which the cat will be happy about as now Kahurangi is crawling his main obsession is trying to grab her. I’d imagine a few nights on the couch watching the rugby will be had, as well as more takeaways than is healthy being consumed.

Factually correct, but yet not that informative.

Yesterday on my way to meet Mason and Russ to work in the Newtown Library, I walked past one of the many Chinese restaurants in Newtown. It was closed and had a sign letting people know that.

Due to some reasons we will be closed until the 17th.

I was glad to know they weren’t closed for no reason, but I’m now curious what the reasons are.

A mixed weekend

I started feeling poorly on Friday afternoon and by Saturday was quite fluey, but some Echinacea and a lot of sleep seemed to get rid of that.
Then last night NZ lost the yachting, but won the rugby.

And today had a great brunch, then some read some bizarre blog posts indirectly about Koha. Which I’m not even going to get into, because it would just add fuel to what in my opinion is an utter non issue.

Weird weekend
