Books and Baby Stuff

Well my stuff left Pittsburgh and is all paid for. the shipping company reckons it will be picked up in NY on the 29th (not sure if it was), and arrives in wellington on the 26th of September. I’m excited to be reunited with my art books, the baby stuff and ikea furniture bought for crayon, and my telescope amongst other things. looks like the boat is running late. I was looking forward to watching it go through the panama canal. Cool that you can watch it moving! wondering which way it will go from NY to NZ!

Lazy Sunday

So I had a nice lazy day today, a great lunch, read a good book and watched a good movie.

Lunch

So for lunch I had

  • Green enchiladas from Viva Mexico.
  • A chocolate Milkshake from the 80’s cafe
  • Steamed pudding and custard from Daisy’s Diner

All very good, and totally less than $14, gotta love food courts.

Dude where’s my country – Michael Moore

This is a funny but annoying read, annoying because everything it talks about is so bleedingly obvious and yet there are still people who believe the crap that their governments feed them.

Dave Chappelle’s Block party

A great watch, in 2004 Dave Chappelle threw a block party in Brooklyn, NYC and invited a bunch of random people to come watch. He got a great group of artists to perform. This is a little documentary about that Block party, its funny, insightful and at times inspiring. Well worth a watch.

Another crappy Telstraclear outage

Right while Im busy trying to work on things. Ever since they moved me to these new numbers, off the paradise.net range Ive had numerous outages.
Id say on average once a week, anywhere from 1 to 12 hours. Its complete crap.
This one started at 8.47pm. According to their recorded message, its a Wellington wide fault, that they have no estimated time for repair for.

Isobar Quiz Night

Well we did ok, we got third, but we must remember not to double up on the first round next time. They were definitely the hardest questions of the lot.
We caned the movie plots and the name that tune rounds though.
Next week we’ll win the bar tab, we have the hang of it now.

This question was in Animals
Whats the most common name for a pet goldfish in the UK?
No cheating and using a search engine.

60%girl? (if you wanted to know)

…its got a penis sticking out, but out of the leg… haha. not really. (i’m reading a really interesting book about medical ‘mutants’ by armand marie leroy, and the biology that happens behind the creation of physical oddities. fascinating, but maybe not the best read when you’re pregnant…)

scanner did good look at the heart, and so far so good. and the hands (which they couldnt see the last time) were very peek-a-boo across the face or thumb sucking/nose picking – so those look good as well.

initially the scanner thought it was a boy, but legs were tightly curled up bound around that area, so she spent 20 mins trying to persuade baby otherwise. no such luck. however, from the investigations she did do, she said it looked like a girl. bahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh. crayon being coy.

…however, we got 2 full fledged yawns on screen. so it has a very cute yawn – be it boy or girl.

so i’m left not being able to make my floral baby duvet arrangements for another 4 weeks until next scan.

c’est la vie.

The parents must be doing something right

I went to Courtney Central yesterday to watch Fearless (which incidentally is a pretty good watch) and while I was sitting in the foodcourt waiting I overheard this conversation.

A mum asking her 6 (I’m guessing) year old daughter (again guessing),
“Do you want a McDonalds Happy Meal”. The young girl answered, “Yuck, no I want butter chicken.”
Multi million dollar marketing budget vs food that actually tastes good, and for once the good food wins.
