20 week scan

Well we had the 20 week scan today, everything looks fine, the nurse wasnt worried about anything. But little crayon was being his squirmy self so she couldnt get a clear enough view to see for sure if its boy or girl. At least thats what she said at the end, but Laurel and I harbour suspicions she forgot to look.

We have another scan at 24, just to check the heart (it all looked good today) because Laurel has a bit of family history of heart issues. Pretty low risk though. So hopefully then we will find out the sex.

Working from the Railway Station

This morning I dropped Alex down to the ferry at around 7.30am … then I had a meeting a the railway station at 10.30am. So instead of fighting my way back home through the traffic I just found a park near the railway station and went into Trax cafe. Thanks to Cafenet I’m able to work just fine from here. So im on a big couch with a coffee using the cafenet connection to work.

Playing tour guide

We spent the day today showing Alex (a friend of a friend from New Jersey) around Wellington. It was pretty crappy weather so we did mostly indoor things. Starting with lunch at some french cafe on Cuba street that I can’t recall the name of, it was damn good though. Then we got some dessert from Dorothys and went to look around the City Gallery. After that we went to the Town hall to listen to a free pipe organ recital. To finish off we went to the tasting room for dinner.

Yay its friday

It’s been quite a long week this week, and I’m looking forward to the weekend. We have a friend of a friend arriving from New Jersey via Australia on Saturday. So we get to play tourguide for a bit, which is often fun.
This evening we have an exhibition opening, and an exhibition closing to go to (no not the same one). And then tomorrow another exbition opening. Plus the Air New Zealand cup kicks off tonight and the All Blacks play the Wallabies tomorrow. So It’s going to be a full on weekend too by the looks of it.

I hope to have a little time clear to do some installation and testing of the dev_week Koha code. We’ll see, I said that last weekend too 🙂

Bad nights sleep

Laurel was having some whacky dreams last night, which didn’t help me sleep much at all.
Someone screaming “Why dont you just grow the fuck up” in your ear at 3.15am is not a pleasant way to be jolted awake. She assures me it wasnt me in the dream she was yelling at. To paraphrase Mr T “I pity the fool who it was”.

Its all absurd

After a big discussion with Laurel last night, we came to the conclusion that its absurd. What is absurd? you ask, the answer is, EVERYTHING IS ABSURD.
I could start listing examples, but Id be here this time next year and only have scratched the surface. Everyday we bump into more and more absurd situations.

So with the ephihany that the world is simply retarded and is never going to make sense, it makes you appreciate the small things that actually do make sense a lot more.

Playing with Planet

Today while I was bored and hiding inside to get away from the crappy weather, I decided to have a play with planet. Ive screwed something up as it should be serving the page as utf-8 but it doesnt seem to be. Other than that its working well. I’ve put it behind some auth until I check with the people whose blogs I have on it that they dont mind. Until then its just for my use.
