Ive decided im bored of doing a blog, and Rachel made a nice typo this morning, which prompted me to decide that im going to be doing a blug instead from now on.
Once I decide what a blug is, i’ll be sure to blug about it.
Do you have to be a grumpy dickhead to drive a bus in Wellington?
Probably not, but it seems high on the list of requirements to get the job.
If you hate people that much dont do a job that involves almost constant
interaction with them. And for christ sakes, let the old people sit down
before you pull out of the stop cutting off traffic.
I need a student ID
Ok, so I’m planning to go watch some hockey when I’m in the states over Christmas. The Penguins have a great deal if you are a student, the Penguins Student Rush. Basically you turn up 1 hour before the game, and get the best of the seats unsold for $20.
So now I just need a student ID 🙂
Google analytics
Im currently trying Google Analytics at the moment to track visits to the blog. Just to see what it looks like. So far its pretty cool, but if you are using linux (or probably anything) make sure you update your flash plugin for the browser. It goes very badly with versions older than 7.0.
In other geeky news im speaking at the Linux Conf Australia next year, which
despite the name is being held in Dunedin, New Zealand.
Lucky I have a few 13 hour flights before then that I can use for speech
writing.
Evidence
Some of the tutors and staff at tlc had an exhibition on last weekend.
It was all really good stuff, and Laurel got some nice feedback on her piece so thats all good.
Maori Wikipedia
If you havent seen mi.wikipedia.org go take a look. And if you can, contribute.
Too nice to be inside
What a lovely day it is outside, I’m finding it really hard to concentrate
on the tangled mess of tangram and perl im trying to debug. Id much rather
be out in the sun.
Some fun ideas
Ive been playing with a couple of neat little things. One of them is indy.tv From the site:
“Indy is a music discovery program that learns what you like, and plays more of it. And it’s free.
Indy makes it easy for you to find great new independent music. Just download Indy and double-click: as it plays songs, you rate what you hear. Indy quickly learns what you like and gets really smart about sending you more music you’ll like. Let Indy help you find your place in the collective consciousness as you help other people find theirs.”
The other is Connectviabooks which is like an online book club.
Spokesman of crappy crap crap
So National in their infinitesimally small amount of wisdom have appointed a Spokesman of Political Correctness Eradication. If they werent such complete tools you would think it was a joke. Ah well, it might be mildly entertaining anyway, still im pretty annoyed a portion of my taxes (albeit tiny) is going towards paying the salaries of these retards.
It’s alive
Well thats officially 2 public libraries in New Zealand running Koha 2.2.x now. You can see HLT’s opac here . I think it turned out pretty nice.
