Laurel (my wife) said to me the other day “You need to do a blog entry about
me”. So here it is. Laurel is an artist, she works at TLC, her coworkers are
slightly mental but thoroughly nice people all the same.
Sometimes they race chairs.
When Laurel isnt at work, she likes to spend time with our pets and read books and stuff.

Shanghai Kitchen
We went to this restaurant last night. Its on Jackson Street in Petone,
near the Dutch shop if you know Petone. And it was really really good. The
most authentic Shanghainese food we’ve ever had in NZ. Donna said its
exactly how she remembers it from her year in Shanghai.
The prices (as always in a chinese restaurant) are more than reasonable, and
the portion sizes are excellent.
Heartily recommend it.
Brrrr its cold
According to my thermometer its 7 degrees celsius outside at the moment. And
there is supposed to be a cricket test against Sri Lanka in Wellington in 2
weeks. Maybe thats NZ crickets plan, since they are playing so badly, they
have decided to freeze the Sri Lankans and beat them that way.
Would you like some ranch with your ranch?
Ranch dressing, whats up with that? It seems that ranch is the new ketchup
apparently you can (and people do) put ranch dressing on anything that is
remotely close to being called food. I’m not entirely sure what the
fascination is, I mean its fine on salad, but dear god do you have to
smother your steak in it?
Lots to do.
Its super busy here at the moment, tons to do at work. Lots of non work
related stuff to do as well. Im way behind on sending back my flat stanley
and flat stacey to the US. Ill get on to that this week, can’t keep the kids
waiting.
If you have stuff you want me to do … you’ll go into a priority queue ..
just a warning 🙂
What a huge Weekend
Well, the madness has finally ended and I have time to update the blog
again.
The Wedding celebrations part two on saturday went really well I thought. A
huge thanks to Laurel and her little helpers who did such a great job with
the hall. And a big thanks to everyone who came along to share the day with
us.
We spent most of Sunday cleaning up, thanks Uncle Rex and Dad for giving us
a hand. That evening we had fish and chips with our friends who had come
over from Japan. It was great to have them here.
And Monday was sports day, unfortunately both the Steelers and the NZ
cricket team lost 😦 But the cricket was a fun day out anyway, even if I do
need some throat lozenges now. Roll on the Austalian tour.
Working in a real office.
Well not your typical office I grant you, but more officey than my workroom
at home. Im doing 2 days a week in an office in town, its quite different
and will take some getting used to again. Its easy to get distracted with
lots of people around.
Blasts from the past
We had dinner at Jeremy and Nicola’s house last week, and Jeremy gave us a
pile of tapes to listen to. Bomb the bass, Supergrass, Faith No More, Carter
USM .. its like being back at university again.
Happy New Year
Well 2004 (the year of the moron) is officially over, and about time too.
Lets see how 2005 (working title “please dear god let there be less morons
this year”) will go.
Please someone, give us some ozone
The UV index is insane at the moment, its sitting on extreme. Which means I
burn in about 3 minutes without sunscreen on. I have about 5 little burnt
patches that I must have missed putting sunscreen on when I was at the
cricket. I think I need to take a bath in the stuff before I go out.
