Claim settled

Well the insurance claim for our stolen car has been settled, so time to buy a new car. We still have to finish dealing with the contents claim, but we are working on that now.

So now to figure out what car we will get, I want a station wagon, Laurel wants some kinda small SUV thing, like a CRV or RAV4. She will probably get to choose, because I dont really care, as long as its economic to run and has good space for the pram etc, it could be the ugliest car in the world and I wouldn’t mind.

Daaahhhhraaaammmaaaa

Out the ying yang. Ok, so this morning we took Laurels mom to the airport to catch her flight to Auckland and then to LA, only to find the airport was closed due to fog. So, after calling the toll free number and being told no flights until tomorrow at 2pm, I decided it was time to do some wheeling and dealing.
I managed to get Air New Zealand to rebook us on a flight from Palmerston North to Auckland at 1.45pm, which gave us 2.5 hours to get to Palmy … more than enough time, or so we thought. So Linda said goodbye to Laurel and Kahurangi, and Dad, Linda and I hit the road driving north. Unfortunately there was a fatal accident near Paekakariki, which slowed traffic to almost a standstill.
After it was clear there was no way we would make it to Palmy in time I pulled out the trusty cellphone again, and did my best sob story act. Managed to get Linda rebooked on the 5.05pm flight out of Palmerston North. So we kept on driving and got there with tons of time to spare, had something to eat, and sent her off to Auckland. Hopefully she made her flight to LA (they checked her and her bags all the way through so she should have).
Im fairly sure I spent 2.5 hours on the phone all up, but the result was good, maybe I should become a travel agent.

Stop taunting me, you bastard

Whoever it is that has been driving the ice cream truck past our house over the last 2 months needs to either

  1. Stop it – OR
  2. Pause long enough for me to actually make it to the truck to buy something

Today he stopped long enough for me to grab some money and make it outside, before he decided to drive off around the corner again. So Mr Frosty, or Mr Whippy, or Mr Freeze, or whoever you are, cut it the hell out.

Bring us food policy working well

The ‘bring food when you visit’ policy is working well, we scored the yummy lasagne, some fantastic scones, croissants, and some chocolate brownies so far.
We plan to take Kahurangi out for his first day out tomorrow, to the thorndon fair. I’m really looking forward to it, after 6 years of having people smack me in the achilles tendon with baby prams, it’s now my turn to start crippling people too. I think its the rule, if you have a baby you can just ram your way through crowds and no longer have to queue up.
