So the blog has passed the two year old mark, so it looks like my musings
back in
2005 were off. Im still not bored enough of it to stop using it.

DesktopBSD
I have installed this on my laptop, the install was a breeze. Getting the
wifi going was a bit of a trick, but its all working now.
Im fighting with Xorg a little to see if i can get the synaptics touchpad to
not be quite as sensitive. Apart from that im pretty happy with it.
Starving kids
Theres been lots of ads on TV lately, you know the ones, “a starving kid in Africa waits” etc. I was thinking, I wish someone would come out and say ‘Look us westerners screwed up their continent, the least we can do is feed the little buggers’. Id donate to that charity.
Koha Conference France 2006
The Inaugural Koha Conference is in Paris this year. Russ and I are going
over to represent the NZ Koha crew. You can read all about it on the koha
site.
Koha
Deadwood
I got this series out on DVD from fatso.co.nz. Its a good watch, HBO are coming out with some interesting
shows at the moment, as they aren’t crippled with the fascist censorship rules
that the networks in the US.
Weird hard to reproduce bug
So Joshua and I spent a good chunk of today trying to fix a bug that we can
only readily reproduce on one machine. Its very odd, but we think we have
narrowed it down to one place to look. Something mental happens if the 856
tag is filled in. I maintain MARC is weird 🙂
Census Night tonight
So tonight is the census, everyone in NZ has to fill out a form. A pretty
stupid form that makes a lot of false assumptions.
- No one under 15 smokes
- No one under 15 works
Which are both demonstratibly false. But oh well, its just lies^H^H^H^H
statistics.
UPDATE 2006/03/07: Officially counted
Ok Ive filled in the census form online, so I can’t get fined a big wad of
cash. So thats all good.
Spicy Lamb sausages
I had a fantastic spicy lamb sausage at the Newtown fair today. No idea who
made it, I bought it of some indian guy who was barbequeing them. The fair
was pretty good, lots of great food, a couple of good bands and some
interesting stalls.
Battalion
We went to see
Battalion
last night. It was excellent, if you can manage to get tickets to any of
their remaining shows, grab them and go.
Arsehats of the Month
Anyone campaigning for a New Zealander category on the ethnicity question on
the Census. New Zealander is your Nationality you crazy retards. Everyone
who is a citizen of NZ is a New Zealander. They arent all the same
ethnicity.
If I go live in India, does that make me of Indian ethnicity? Of course it
bloody doesnt. Get over yourselves and read a dictionary.
